To do list.

Hi again, So just to let you know our idea for becoming nomads or technomads only came around about a week ago. I am still way excited about it and my wife is still nervous. So I have made it my job to research and show her that if we are prepared and gain more knowledge on the whole nomadic lifestyle, we can do it.

As I said in an earlier post, we came across some awesome sites and blogs on the subject, one of my favorite and most useful as been Technomadia they have loads of information and even and e-book that you can buy or read online. Check it out No Excuses: Go Nomadic here.

So now to my to do list, most of it is from the e-book and a few extras I keep thinking of (but may be covered in the e-book as I haven’t finished it yet)

  • Get a camper/travel trailer
  • Money on the Road, jobs and income sources
  • how can we afford full time travel
  • Traveling with pets
  • Purge out stuff
  • family aspects of nomadic lifestyle
  • nomadic romance/marriage
  • environmental nomadism
  • community aspects of nomadic travel
  • Residency, getting mail, voting
  • Money – Banking, finances and taxes
  • Tackling the overwhelm of preparing
  • healthcare and staying healthy
  • service providers – phone – internet
  • Feeling safe
  • healthy eating/cooking on the road

So that’s the list so far. Although I have read that sometimes it is not always good to look too hard into preparation as we may scare ourselves still. I will do my best not to over do it.

Until next time 🙂

We are going to be Technomads!

nomad (Greek: νομάς,nomas, plural νομάδες,nomades; meaning one roaming about for pasture, pastoral tribe), commonly known as an itinerant in modern-day contexts, is a member of a community of people who move from one place to another, rather than settling permanently in one location. There are an estimated 30–40 million nomads in the world.

Techonmads: Technology Enabled Nomads

This is my wife and I’s solution to a couple of problems, becoming techomads 🙂

To explain a little better, we have both been gypsy girls while growing up and in our adults lives. Be it due to being out of our control to begin with and growing into something more we are not sure what causes our itchy feet. Personally I thought I was over the travel bug and just wanted a place of our own, whereas my wonderful wife wanted to still travel and show me around Canada and other places.

At the moment it may have a lot to do with the town we are in and our current living arrangement. Due to problematic housemate issues (where is our money going if utilities are being cut off?) and many past living quarter issues we decided that we would become trailer dwellers and get a camper, RV, travel trailer (in Australia we called them caravans) any kind of mobile living so we can save money to move back to BC. Our thinking is that it would be cheaper and if we don’t like our neighbors we can move.

So one night while we where researching “mobile homes” wonderful Youtube brought us to some of these nomadic people and the life style. I was excite and kept watching and clicking on links to blogs and such and bookmarking like crazy.

So to us it looks like it could solve both problems, I get a home that I can decorate and make all nest like, my wonderful wife gets to show me the country and more.

Sadly it is going to take a little while as we just got a SUV (because we already wanted a camper/trailer) and have payments to keep up with, and we want to have some savings before we start. Oh and we need to get a “mobile home” lol.

So first plan is to save and get a livable camper/trailer and find a campground here in town for our jobs. I need to get my license changed to a Canadian one. We have to sort through our belongings and let go of a lot. OH my so much to do.

Any way that is and update on whats been happening. I am thinking I will use this blog for our process of getting ready for nomadic living and later when we hit the road will move it to a new one, as we are going to report on our progress as often as possible.

Any ideas on a good website name?

Until next time, be good or at least good at it 🙂

Still Feel like Shit!

Ok so 3 weeks later and im still sick. Im normally fed up with a 4 day cold so you should see me right now. The past couple of days has been a lot of crying, I cant stop. I just feel horrid and I had one of my  yearly turns the other night which is really scary. Doc says its migraine related and after a little research I might believe him. All I know is that it is scary seeing orange, being in horrid pain and sometimes passing out from it.

So in 3 weeks I have been to the Doc’s 4 times, and for me that is huge.. lucky if I get to a Doc once a year.

I am still smoke free although its been hard coz I want a smoke so bad when I am depressed like this.

Anyways.. thats the update for now. I just want to feel normal again 😦

A Home Made Carpet Freshener

How to make Natural Air Freshener

Project ~ Fresh Air

So I quit smoking 18 days ago and right now I feel like crap. The first week was hell as I only use about 3 pieces of Thrive gum a day. The next week was trying to change habits and patterns that set off my “Mental Cravings” for a smoke and had stopped using the Thrive gum. Not long into that after a hellish week at work I became sick. It was just a cold (2nd one in 2 months) but then my ears began to hurt and as my wife was going away for a week she wanted to take me to the doctors (she new I wouldn’t go if she didn’t take me) Now this was Good Friday in a strange place that thinks no one gets sick on public holidays so dont bother having any clinics open. This led to the joy of spending almost 2 hours in the ER. I felt stupid as it was just a cold but I didnt want my wonderful wife worried while away.

Turns out it is an ear infection and a chest infection. Awesome! So I got my prescription and doctors note for work headed to work (where I could get my prescription filled also) handing in my note while waiting on my meds. We got to pick them up, antibiotics and some puffer thing, and with my work discount got to spend over $150 on those 2 items.

So im making this into a way longer story than intended, but hey.. my blog.. my mindless mumbles so deal with it.

Just to shorten it a bit, I have spent the Easter weekend alone and sick and feel im getting worse not better.  The breathing is the part bugging me the most that and the extream strong smell of dust (like an old boarded up house with visible height to the dust) Im just thinking its my body cleaning out the toxic poisons its been collecting through my years of smoking.

So if its not improving in a couple days I will go back to the doctors.

This project though is to rid all my belongings of the horrid stale smoke smell, so I am looking up natural ways to freshen the air.

I love Youtube so most of the following posts for this will be Videos.

Mindless Moping

So its been a few months of nothing, just day to day life. Lost a job, got a new one, moved, want to move again. Been sick and now sick again, so much for quitting smoking being good for you!

I have been moping, being unhappy with a lot of things in my life but doing nothing but bitch about it all. Lame, I know, I tell my self that all the time. So here I am back to writing again, if I just keep in motion I might be able to sort something out. Sitting around all the time doing nothing but play online games isn’t getting me anywhere. I use to feel some what good about my achievements in games, but now that doesn’t even help or sometimes feels like it makes it worse.

I have started to read again, I missed reading. Right now I am almost at the end of “To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. No I have never read it before and I’m not sure what I think of it just yet. I may need to read it again as I have been using it as a “put to sleep” method and might have missed things or messed them up in my dreams.

Along with the book I have been flipping through other strange things on our (my wife and I’s) bookcase. Anne Rice and New Testament on the same shelf. The Virgo in me is a little miffed about the set up but all in all there is something for what ever mood I am in. Although the bible has not and will not be touched. I have other stuff to work on before even attempting that bucket of worms.

I am going to be taking snippets from our bookshelf and sharing them with… well like I said Im just trying to stay busy. Its been getting too dark and I need to let in the sunshine.
